Acad. Prof. DSc Alexander Dreischuh in “The Beautiful Minds of Alma Mater”: on the power of light, optics and laser physics
The new episode of the popular science series “The Beautiful Minds of Alma Mater” on the student television channel “Alma Mater” introduces viewers to one of the most authoritative names in contemporary Bulgarian physics – Acad. Prof. DSc Alexander Dreischuh – for many years a lecturer at the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University, a researcher with a very large number of citations in prestigious international journals, holder of Bulgaria’s highest award for science, the Pythagoras Prize, and a member of the Management Board of the National Centre of Excellence Mechatronics and Clean Technologies
In a deep and intriguing conversation, Prof. Dreischuh guides viewers through the fascinating world of quantum electronics, laser physics and nonlinear optics. Before the camera of the university television channel he reveals how light is controlled at the molecular and atomic level, what the practical applications of laser technologies are in today’s world – from industry and medicine to fundamental research into matter – and how the scientific paradigm is changing in an era of rapidly developing technologies.
