Laboratory of Thermochemistry
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC 404 F3 Pegasus) is a thermal analysis technique in which the difference between the heat flow rate into a sample crucible and that into a reference crucible is determined as a function of temperature and/or time. During such a measurement, the sample and the reference are subjected to a controlled temperature programme and a defined atmosphere.
Materials That Can Be Studied
- Ceramics
- Glassy materials
- Materials for electrochemical systems
- Surfactants
- Magnetic materials

Access to the Laboratory of Thermochemistry
The Laboratory of Thermochemistry is part of the research infrastructure of the National Centre of Excellence “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” and is located on the Geo Milev campus. Requests for access and for joint research are therefore handled centrally — see Contacts. In addition, a full overview of the Centre’s other laboratories is available on the Infrastructure and Laboratories page.
The thermochemistry equipment was acquired under project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0006, funded by the Programme “Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation” 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
