Laboratory of Organic and Polymer Synthesis
Synthesis and characterisation of new organic compounds, polymers, composites and hybrid materials. Development of polymers from renewable resources and “green” synthesis. Analysis of physicochemical and mechanical properties using a wide range of analytical methods.
Description of Activities
- Synthesis and characterisation of new organic compounds and polymers.
- Polymerisation of monomers derived from renewable waste resources and "green" synthesis of copolymers.
- Preparation and characterisation of polymer-organic photovoltaic cells, fibrous polymer materials, composites and functional hybrid polymer materials.
Description of the Service
Synthesis of new organic compounds and polymers, composites and functional hybrid polymer materials. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of polymers and composite materials using a range of analytical methods, and determination of their main physicochemical and mechanical characteristics.
Equipment
This modern laboratory for precision organic and polymer synthesis combines two laboratories in a single area, enabling optimal use of the newly acquired state-of-the-art equipment specific to both types of synthesis – fume hoods, laboratory benches, Schlenk lines for work under an inert atmosphere, rotary vacuum evaporators, a lyophiliser, vacuum pumps, a temperature-controlled centrifuge, etc. The synthesis laboratory offers suitable conditions for the successful synthesis of new organic compounds and polymers, composites and functional hybrid polymer materials.
Laboratory Access and Service Requests
The laboratory is part of the research infrastructure of the National Centre of Excellence “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” and is located on the Geo Milev campus. Requests for access and for joint research are therefore handled centrally — see Contacts. In addition, a full overview of the Centre’s other laboratories is available on the Infrastructure and Laboratories page.
The laboratory’s equipment was acquired under project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0006, funded by the Programme “Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation” 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
