Infrared spectroscopy (IR spectroscopy or vibrational spectroscopy)
For determining the molecular structure, functional groups, types of chemical bonds and spatial configuration of chemical compounds.
Service description
Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) Invenio-R (Bruker, Germany), covering the mid- and far-infrared regions of the spectrum (8000-80 cm-1) in absorption, transmission or reflection mode, with the capability to examine bulk solids, thin-film materials, powders and liquid samples. The instrument is also equipped with an ATR module with a diamond crystal for the direct examination of materials without sample preparation.

Access to the Infrared Spectroscopy Laboratory
The Infrared Spectroscopy Laboratory is part of the research infrastructure of the National Centre of Excellence “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” and is located on the Geo Milev campus. Requests for access and for joint research are therefore handled centrally — see Contacts. In addition, a full overview of the Centre’s other laboratories is available on the Infrastructure and Laboratories page.
The infrared spectroscopy equipment was established under project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0006, funded under the Programme “Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation” 2021–2027 and co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
