Prof. Konstantin Kamberov
Prof. Dr Eng. Konstantin Kamberov graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1996, majoring in “Technology of Machine Building and Metal-Cutting Machines” at the Faculty of Machine Technology (now the Faculty of Industrial Technologies) of the Technical University of Sofia. He obtained his doctoral degree in 2011 in the scientific speciality “Automation of Engineering Work and Computer-Aided Design Systems” at the same university. In 2016 he was elected Associate Professor at the Department of Technology of Machine Building and Metal-Cutting Machines of the Faculty of Machine Technology, Technical University of Sofia. His research interests lie in the field of mechanical engineering and industrial systems, including CAD/CAM/CAE technologies, FEA, virtual reality, virtual prototyping, virtual engineering, rapid prototyping, vibration and noise, manufacturing technologies and materials, as well as information systems.
Experience
Prof. Kamberov became Head of the Department of Technology of Machine Building and Metal-Cutting Machines in 2016, holding this position for two terms until 2023. Since 2023 he has been Deputy Head of the Department of Production Technologies and Systems, Faculty of Industrial Technologies, Technical University of Sofia. He is the coordinator of the National Centre of Excellence “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” – Studentski Grad campus. He is actively involved in teaching 9 courses in 3 bachelor’s and 3 master’s programmes at the Technical University of Sofia and has supervised more than 50 bachelor’s and master’s theses and 2 doctoral dissertations. He has taken part in international projects under the EU’s 7th Framework Programme and H2020 with partners from universities such as the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Technical University of Munich, Queen Mary University of London, the Technical University of Denmark, Warsaw University of Technology and Harbin University of Science and Technology, as well as in national research projects. In addition, he has participated in more than 90 projects with industry, together with companies such as Chevron (USA), Sensata (Bulgaria/Holland), Siguren (France), Nexen Lift Truck (UK), Wahler (Germany), Maha (Germany), Deltica (USA), Visteon/Johnson Controls (Bulgaria, France), Renault (France) and VW (Germany).
Achievements
Prof. Kamberov is a co-author of more than 120 publications in scientific journals, more than 50 of them in peer-reviewed and indexed journals, with h-index = 8. He is a co-author of 20 patents, including international ones. As an Associate Professor, he has served as a reviewer and participant in academic competitions and juries at the Technical University of Sofia, including for academic positions in the field of technical sciences. In 2025 he took part in a competition for the academic position of “Professor” in higher education area 5. Technical Sciences, professional field “Mechanical and Automotive Engineering”, demonstrating a significant academic and practical contribution.
