The infrastructure of the National Centre of Excellence Mechatronics and Clean Technologies (the Centre) is open to a wide range of external and internal users. The Centre offers access to the resources of the research infrastructure to users from academia, business and public institutions.

The main groups of users who may use the infrastructure:

  1. Internal users (project partners):

  • The Centre’s core group, which comprises the project partners.

  • These partners are entitled to use the infrastructure at no additional cost for the duration of the project.

  1. External users (third parties):

Access for external users is regulated and is granted on a transparent and non-discriminatory basis:

  • Third parties for research and development (R&D): this includes other universities and public institutes.

    • Where they belong to the public sector, they are charged for overheads, equipment usage rates and other costs.

  • Commercial access (private sector): undertakings and business operators may use the infrastructure for commercial purposes.

    • This includes the provision of consultancy services to undertakings and/or the performance of contract research.

    • Pricing for the private sector is based on the market price (where one exists), or an individual quotation is offered.

  • Individual researchers holding a doctoral degree: they may use the infrastructure free of charge if they demonstrate significant impact (measured against specific criteria).

    • The institutions to which these researchers belong must cover the basic consumables and operating costs.

  • Effective collaboration: for activities that qualify as non-economic, in the field of fundamental research, a quota of free-of-charge access is offered to particularly compelling proposals that contribute to the Centre’s scientific visibility. Payment in such cases may take the form of acknowledgements in publications and/or co-authorship by members of staff.

  • No access for private individuals: private individuals are not granted access to the Centre’s research infrastructure.

  • No preferential access: preferential access is not granted to undertakings that are related parties of any of the partners. Associated partners are likewise not entitled to preferential access on more favourable terms.

Access to the facilities is obtained by submitting Research Proposals (from academic organisations), Proposals for scientific or technological development (from a business operator in effective collaboration), or Requests for a scientific service, an analytical service or technological expertise, or requests to use or hire the equipment.
