The laboratory performs model accelerated and electrochemical corrosion tests of metal, nanomodified materials and coatings; precision thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis simultaneously on the same sample.
Potential partners and clients of the laboratory are research teams with similar research interests and organizations working in the field of material science.
ACTIVITIES
- Testing of metallic materials and coatings in artificial atmospheric conditions (salt fog, humid heat, etc.);
- Determining the degree of destruction and the intensity of the manifested corrosion defects;
- Electrochemical monitoring of corrosion processes;
- Calculation of corrosion kinetics;
- Combined TGA-DSC / DTA tests on samples from 5 mg to 2 g at a resolution better than or equal to 0.1 μg;
- Measurements in a controlled atmosphere (eg Ar) with simultaneous heating of the analyzed sample and reference;
- Identification of the gases released during heating during the thermal analysis and identification of their individual components by a quadrupole mass spectrometer.

- Determining the mass loss per unit area;
- Calculation of the corrosion rate over time;

-DSC / DTA analysis to measure glass transition, phase changes, purity, evaporation, melting, crystallization, sublimation, polymerization, heat capacity, compatibility, pyrolysis, etc.
EQUIPMENT
Laboratory for active technologies, functional coatings and components for mechatronic systems has the following devices:
Potentiostat for electrochemical investigation of corrosion characteristics PGSTAT 204, METHROM AUTOLAB
- Potential range: +/- 20 V;
- Maximum current: +/- 400 mA;
- Possibility to add at least one additional module for impedance measurement and / or rotating disk electrode;

Measuring cell set for corrosion tests - 1 liter, containing:
- Ag / AgCl reference electrode; standard steel electrodes;
- Data management and recording software.
Chamber for cyclic corrosion tests in salt mist conditions Q-FOG CCT/1100, Q-LAB
Possibility for testing according to standards: ISO 9227; ISO 6270-2, IEC 60068-2-52; IEC 60068-2-11; ASTM B117 in the study of corrosion resistance of metallic materials and coatings.
- Useful working volume with closed lid: 800-1200 liters;
- Humidity up to 95-100%;
- Setting cyclic tests with modes and parameters defined by the user;
- Built-in salt solution tank with a volume of 120 liters;
- Total load capacity of the chamber (total weight of the samples) over 500 kg;
- Maximum temperature at atomization not less than + 60 ° C, maximum temperature at drying with compressed air not less than + 70 ° C;
- Device for controlling the pressure for atomization, in the range not less than (70 - 170) kPa;
- Execution of cyclic tests with adjustment and control of the temperature at the relative humidity up to 100%;
- Mode control software.
Complex for precise thermal analysis
Elements of the complex:
- Simulation thermal analyzer TGA-DTA and TGA-DSC;
- Furnace Rhodium RT - providing a temperature range of the system operation from room temperature to 1650оС;
- Mass spectrometer QMS403 Aeolos Quadro for analysis of the emitted during heating gases with a mass of 1 to 300 amu.
